Objective

I have a passion for writing compelling stories about animals and am currently working on my low-residency MFA in narrative nonfiction at the University of Georgia. I completed an undergraduate degree in public relations with the University of Florida Honors Program as well as a graduate degree in journalism at UF. I focus on wildlife, travel, feature stories and personal essays.

I have experience as a copy editor for the narrative nonfiction publication Atrium and as a writer for the fashion and lifestyle magazine Strike. My article on the threatened Florida burrowing owl was published in National Geographic, an engaging opportunity where I worked alongside editors and scientists to complete the story within a deadline of three days.

I was selected to be part of the Society of Professional Journalists 2023 student newsroom in Las Vegas. Ten students were chosen in a national writing competition to report on conference events. I completed six articles within three days, including features on Washington Post's Dana Priest and "Good Morning America" co-anchor Gio Benitez.

I interned as a public relations coordinator and blog writer at 352Creates, an organization that is affiliated with UF Health Shands Hospital. I was the Communications Coordinator for Project Canis, a sustainable nonprofit that has donated 11,000 recycled-fabric toys to shelter animals. I was also a Dance Marathon Productions Captain, an event management leadership position for a 26.2 hour philanthropy event where I raised $9,000 for kids in Shands Hospital. I spent the summer studying abroad in Italy to learn about travel journalism.
