Objective

Fatima Moien is a multimedia journalist, with a master's of arts in journalism from Hofstra University, and her bachelor of science in criminal justice from CUNY's John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Having passed the NYPD entrance exam as a sophomore in college, it was after the murder of George Floyd and the rise in police brutality in 2020, that Moien felt a career in law enforcement wasn't for her. Having been a Nassau County Police Explorer, and an eager mind for justice, Moien found herself towards print journalism.

In her time at Hofstra University, she has been recognized by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation as a two-time Gracie Award winner, has studied abroad in Cuba, has been nominated for a Fulbright Scholarship, and has previously served as the student board representative for the Asian American Journalist Association (AAJA) New York Chapter.

Her time in the program has included writing for The Long Island Advocate, anchoring on-air for the Heat Network, and in radio broadcasts for WRHU 88.7 FM. She also completed an academic year internship with producer, Doreen Geiger and consumer reporter, Lynda Baquero at WNBC Channel 4 for the Better Get Baquero show.

At CUNY's John Jay College of Criminal Justice, she majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Digital Media & Journalism, where she served as the editor-in-chief for The Sentinel. She was a Justice Capital Initiative fellow, an ARF WIDE Scholar, and a Team Leader for the ¡Adelante! Latinx Leadership program.

She also has a second-degree black belt in taekwondo and has competed nationally and internationally for USA and Pakistan.

Moien is seeking work as an MMJ/Reporter. Willing to relocate.
