Objective
My name is Juhi Doshi and I am a Los Angeles-based award-winning journalist. At Chapman University, I'm a rising senior studying Political Science and Broadcast Journalism. MSNBC, NBC Los Angeles, CBS Evening News, NBC Los Angeles, POLITICO, CalMatters, and A Starting Point are some of the wonderful places I've had the opportunity to intern with. I have a passion for covering politics and work to highlight systemic inequities by giving those affected a voice. I have grown multimedia skills such as being able to support my writing and reporting with video, editing, audio work, and photography. I was recently awarded the
2023 White House Correspondents' Association and Asian American Journalists Association Scholarship. My goal is to eventually cover national politics and campaigns/elections as a reporter.
I will be living in Washington, D.C. in the spring of 2024, so I'm currently seeking an internship/entry-level based opportunity located there. I'm also looking for a digital reporting internship for fall 2023.
This summer, I moved to New York to intern for MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports. This past spring, I interned for NBC’s Los Angeles Political Unit (KNBC), where I covered California politics and worked on one of the longest running public affairs shows in the nation, "News Conference" with NBCLA's chief political correspondent, Conan Nolan. I started my first two weeks by covering President Joe Biden , Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 California U.S. Senate race, and the Monterey Park mass shooting. I am also a reporter for Chapman News, my university's newscast and the only live broadcast in Orange County
Recently, I interned for CBS Evening News, and helped with the production of a wide variety of newscasts and packages for CBS Evening News with Norah O’ Donnell, CBS Weekend News, and CBS Mornings. Most notably, I pitched and fully produced my own story about foster youth that aired nationally as a part of CBS’s “Eye on America” series.
During my time with POLITICO's California Bureau, I gained hands-on experience covering state politics and policy, and even directly questioned the Governor at a press conference. I drove around Southern California to cover an Orange County District Attorney Debate and the U.S. Education Secretary’s visit to Southern California.
Apart from my in-person reporting experiences, I’ve had 80 bylines with POLITICO. I regularly contributed to the California Playbook Newsletter and the California Playbook PM Newsletter. I’ve watched dozens of legislature committee hearings and published multiple POLITICO Pro briefs. I also made it to the front page of politico.com as I helped write the ballot tracker.
In the spring of 2021, I was a fellow for A Starting Point and BridgeUSA. As one of five students selected nationwide to participate in this fellowship, I helped produce 13+ informative videos featuring interviews with U.S Senators, U.S Representatives, Governors, and local officials.
As the Assistant News Editor of The Panther, Chapman University's newspaper, I was awarded two “Best of Show” individual awards for best “COVID-19 Reporting” and best “Social Justice Reporting” by the Associated Collegiate Press. In the fall of 2021, I was the Managing Editor of The Panther, overseeing the sports, entertainment, features, and podcast sections.
I covered higher education for the CalMatters Newsroom as a College Journalism Network Fellow. I reported on women’s colleges, university mergers, the Omicron variant, and how campuses coped with a return to in-person instruction. I challenged myself by spending five months reporting on this story, that I'm immensely proud of!
I graduated from the 2021 Financial Times US News School as a part of the inaugural class. I learned about news distribution, multimedia journalism, advertising, and more from speakers from Axios, Google, the Emma Bowen Foundation, etc.
I’ve strived to understand politics by having a wide array of experiences such as working for a California Assemblyman, the nation’s largest nonpartisan grassroots anti-corruption group, and multiple civic engagement and education companies.
