Objective

Aspiring to work as a photojournalist, I aim to start my career at a newspaper after graduation.

Throughout the past three years at the Daily Bruin, the subjects of my photography have expanded from my initial interest in cultural documentation to unfamiliar territories such as sports, entertainment, and portraits. The experiences in diverse coverages have shaped me into a versatile photojournalist. However, a particularly strong passion for political reporting was ignited as I captured united moments at campus rallies, hopeful scenes at the Women's March, heartwarming celebrations from the pride parade, and the most recent waves of marches for abortion rights. As I strive to tackle a variety of photo assignments creatively, I plan to carry an emphasis on political photojournalism.

In addition, pursuing a major in Design Media Arts continues to inspire me to integrate different artistic practices and mediums. After contributing a few years at a news company, I envision myself also exercising my skills in book design to complement my plan in photojournalism. I believe that by pairing my documentary photographs with compelling graphic voices and journalistic writings, they could not only convey more comprehensive stories and build more intimate relationships with readers but most importantly, spark more active discussions and engagements across communities.
