In 2018 I had the opportunity to cover the United Nations Climate Change Conference Conference of Parties COP 24 It was also known as the Katowice Climate Change Conference It was held between 2 and 15 December 2018 in Katowice Poland I worked with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme SPREP which is an intergovernmental organisation based in Apia Samoa alongside the University of the South Pacific journalists and Griffith University Climate Change Response Program researchers and journalists I worked remotely investigating how Pacific Nations challenged the dialogue on climate change which called upon IPCC and Pacific call for action on the Green Climate Fund I had sources on the ground

This was a unique program sponsored by the New Colombo Plan Our role was to give a voice to the people of Vanuatu to showcase their strength and to challenge the stories that have been told Vanuatu is only three hours away from Brisbane Australia and is comprised of 83 small islands We were immersed in their Kastoms and traditional knowledge which build resilience in the face of our biggest problem climate change
