Newscast Director

WXII, the NBC affiliate in Winston-Salem, NC., has an opening for an experienced and dynamic Newscast Director. The Newscast Director communicates and executes all technical aspects of live production, with all technical staff, including the Producer, Technical Director, Audio Operator, Studio, and Engineering. You will report to the Senior Newscast Director. This position also includes training to execute responsibilities in master control as needed.

Responsibilities

• Direct broadcast newscasts
• Provide creative input and will work with the newscast producer and production crew
• Be responsible for clean technical execution of the look of the newscast
• Will call and punch a newscast using automated directing software
• Training will be provided to learn master control tasks to include maintaining on-air operation of running commercials, network, and local programming, following FCC monitoring and EAS procedures, and monitoring multiple channels to ensure signal integrity

Requirements

• 2+ years directing and technical directing a newscast
• Have experience with production switchers, video servers, audio, and studio equipment
• Understanding of newsroom systems ENPS and video playback systems
• Technical know-how to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news
• Can work flexible hours and shifts, including holidays and weekends
• Expected to report to work regardless of weather conditions.
• Related military experience will be considered
• In-person attendance is required
