The New York Times is seeking a versatile editor for the daily international report. You will work in tandem with a staff located across the world. On any given day, you might be editing a news story, managing a live briefing, helping fine-tune enterprise, writing an explainer or jumping on breaking news. You are flexible and strive for journalistic excellence.
This is a hybrid position based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance.
Responsibilities:
Handle edits of all sorts, including first edits and write-throughs
Edit and write for live briefings.
Elevate effective headlines and clear writing across the entire report.
Work with reporters and other editors to champion and drive innovative ways of telling stories across our desk in various forms and formats
Push a strong promotion of stories on the homepage and other core Times platforms.
Identify and respond quickly to breaking news.
Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
You will report to the International Managing Editor.
