The Allbritton Journalism Institute is a new non-profit organization backed by a $20 million grant from Robert Allbritton, the founding publisher of POLITICO. AJI aims to restore journalism’s role in our national conversation by fostering a new generation of reporters, from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives, who produce work that Americans trust. Beginning this year, AJI will offer $60,000 annual stipends to aspiring or early-career reporters to spend up to two years in Washington studying journalism. Participants will attend classes with accomplished journalists and hone their skills by working alongside veteran reporters and editors on a new, non-partisan publication that will cover government, policy and politics.
