Channel NewsAsia’s Digital news team is looking for an experienced copy editor who can help shape and finesse articles. If you have the ability to help make news stories on the most mundane subjects readable and interesting through your ability as a wordsmith, this job could be for you. If you have the experience and insights to help add depth, context and relevance to the most important local news stories, we will be interested to meet you.
The successful candidate will:
Have a keen eye for detail, both linguistic and factual, with the confidence to be able to amend stories to ensure the copy is pristine.
Be a master of grammar and punctuation.
Have a deep and nuanced awareness of the news agenda in Singapore and globally.
Be a self-starter who can roll up their sleeves to get the job done with minimal supervision.
A degree or at least 3 years on-the-job experience in a newsroom.
Ability to exercise individual judgment, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
A good grasp of current issues and news both locally and globally.
Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
Be prepared to work irregular hours.
Ability to work in a fast-moving team environment.
