Executive Editor, News
· Maintain overall editorial vision and direction for international business news coverage · Decide on international business stories that should be covered, including original reporting, diary events and follow-ups, and assign them to respective reporters and editors · Brief and debrief business reporters as well as edit news reports and features · Deepen and broaden business knowledge among producers and reporters · Ensure editorial guidelines are complied with, and rules & policies set by regulators are adhered to · Be updated on financial and business news and current affairs in Asia, and other assigned segments by monitoring the market, competitive activities and viewers’ feedback and give recommendations for improvement.
Vetting and approving of scripts and packages for broadcast
· Review and improve work flow processes in the newsroom
Short term planning to ensure editorial coverage of key upcoming events
Longer-term planning to develop specials & in-depth series, and to maintain editorial partnership with the likes of the World Economic Forum, ADB.
· Develop talent within the business news team, by identifying high-potential additions for the newsroom · Build on international and domestic networks that are crucial for credible and diverse news coverage
· Good degree in Economics, Accounting or Financial Management · Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral. Other language an advantage · Sound knowledge of current financial and business trend · Ability to interpret financial statement is a must · Ability to exercise individual judgment, and work well under pressure to meet deadline · Possess good analytical skill, initiative and resourcefulness · A flair for writing
